Chief among the Katy area's location advantages is its dynamic, well-educated and growing talent pool.  Within a 30 -minute drive time, from the center of the Katy area, 36.2% of adults, 25 years and over, have bachelors and graduate degrees.  This compares favorably to educational attainment rates of 29.1% in the Houston MSA and 29.3% in the U.S..  The Houston MSA provides access to over 60 colleges, universities and technical schools with 380,000 enrolled students.

Growing at a rate of 8 %+ over the next five years, the population in the talent pool is large with 2,287,770 people (16 + years) and growing.  Civilian employment in the talent pool is 1,637,776 with 69,418 unemployed. 

This area has a strong labor participation rate of 69.7%, and the labor force in the talent pool is expected to grow about 12% over the next five years.

Median household income in the talent pool is $61,401, average family income is $95,733, and per capita income is at $34,647.  Income is projected to grow over the next five years at rates from 16% to 20%.  The median age of the talent pool is 33.9.
