Education K-12

The combination of a Texas Education Agency “Recognized” school district and the availability of higher education venues make the Katy Area a prime location for all levels of learning.

Instructional quality is guided by a comprehensive district wide curriculum management plan, which coordinates development, delivery and assessment of teaching throughout the district.

The district maintains forty-four campuses including 26 elementary schools, 10 junior highs, 6 high schools, Miller Career and Technology Center recently underwent a $17 million expansion, and an alternative center.

Katy ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas with an annual growth rate of about 5 to 6 percent projected through 2017. The district passed a $269,000,000 bond issue in 2006, which provided facility needs through 2009. Another bond is being considered for 2010.

The district provides a highly advanced technology program including one to three computers in each classroom, multiple labs in each school, a technology facilitator assigned to each campus, distance learning capabilities at several campuses, a fiber optic network linking every school and facility and an automated curriculum management plan.
